Sevil Mahmudova's 80th Anniversary Personal Creative Exhibition "Piece by Piece Art" Held
On May 19, in the Exhibition Hall named after B. Kangarli of the Nakhchivan Artists' Union, within the framework of the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty", a personal creative exhibition "Piece by Piece Art" was held on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Sevil Bashir Mahmudova. The originality of the exhibition lies in the fact that the artist creates her own works from fabrics and does not use any ready-made products. She does not cut and glue a flower, tree, or other object from a ready-made fabric... She herself makes any flower, flower, or fruit she wants from colored fabrics. Even in works that seem like black and white graphic works, she still cuts and glues each line from the fabric. This style is the individual style of the amateur artist. This style is a different unique form of mosaic, composition, and applique.
We have discovered Sevil Khanum and are very happy that she works and loves art regardless of her age, without saying she is tired. The artist says: "A day when I do not work with fabric is not a day for me". May God grant Sevil Khanum a long and healthy life. Sevil Khanum and determined people like her should be an incentive for young people!
Let's get to know Sevil Khanum!
Sevil Mahmudova was born in 1946 in Nakhchivan city, moved to the village of Shahtakhti due to her father's work and graduated from the Shahtakhti village secondary school in 1964. In 1965, at the insistence of her father, she married a man who had no parents and 6 siblings younger than her, and mothered them with all her heart. Later, due to her husband's work, she moved to the city of Sumgayit with her family. Sevil Khanum has three daughters, and each of them is a highly educated woman, a person of the art world that she aspires to, but does not follow.
Although Sevil Khanum does not have a higher education, she is a freelance artist and participates in many exhibitions with her works.
Sevil Khanum has been engaged in painting and, as she says, handicrafts since 2004.
In 2011, she became a member of the Union of Artists and
participates in events held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan. She is awarded with First Degree Diplomas and Honorary Decrees many times.
In 2011, she participated in an exhibition of amateur artists in St. Petersburg and was awarded an “Honorary Decree”.
Born in Nakhchivan, Sevil Khanum, as a native of this beautiful land, wished for the anniversary exhibition she had dreamed of in her ancestral homeland, and this wish came true. Today, the Bahruz Kangarli Exhibition Hall is exhibiting about 60 of the artist's works in his own style and in oil paint.
The exhibition will continue throughout the week! We invite all art lovers!
