On July 22, in connection with the National Press Day, an online exhibition titled "National Press-Art 150" was organized under the curatorship of Ulviyya Hamzayeva, the chairwoman of the Nakhchivan Artists' Union.

HAPPY 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR NATIONAL PRESS!

On April 25, 2025, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a Decree "On the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press".

We, the Artists, are confident that we will continue the tradition of artists who have contributed to the development of society with this exhibition and continue to contribute to our national press with our works.

Our national press, enriched with numerous publications after 1875, has made significant contributions to the development of the Azerbaijani literary language and the enlightenment movement, has rendered great services in the formation of the ideology of national self-awareness and independence, and in the propagation of advanced ideas.

The newspaper "Ekinchi", which began to be published in the Azerbaijani language on July 22, 1875, by the prominent intellectual and enlightener-publicist Hasan bey Zardabi, has gone down in history as the first example of our national press and an important event in the socio-political life of Azerbaijan at that time. Although only 56 issues of "Ekinchi" were published from July 22, 1875 to September 1877, it played an invaluable role in the formation and development of the Azerbaijani national press.

During the war, our media set an example of true patriotism and solidarity, made special efforts to convey our true voice to the world community, expose the false information of the enemy and its supporters, and created a rich chronicle about the courage and heroism of our National Army, soldiers and officers.

Today, our media, as an active participant in the progress of Azerbaijan and the process of building a modern society, has expanded its international relations and influence in the global information space, and increased its competitiveness.
