Şamil Qazıyev

GAZIYEV Shamil Hasan oglu was born on March 30, 1908 in the city of Yerevan and died on July 13, 1980 in the city of Baku. Theater artist. Honored Art Worker (1944). He graduated from the Baku Art School (1929). He worked as a teacher at the Nakhchivan Pedagogical College (1929-1932) and an artist at the Communist (Baku) newspaper (1932-1934). Since 1934, he has been the chief artist of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper, as well as J. Mammadguluzadeh. He was the chief artist of the Nakhchivan Musical Drama Theater (1934-1948), where he performed more than 120 performances ("Sheikh Sanan", H.Javid; "Leyli and Majnun", U.Hajibeyov; "Aydin", "Bride of Fire", J. Jabbarli; "Vagif", "Farhad and Shirin", S. Vurgun; "Fugitive Nabi", S. Rustam; "Life", M. Ibrahimov; "Othello", "Hamlet", U. Shakespeare, etc.) gave. He was a member of the USSR Artists' Union (1940). In 1940-1941 he was the director of Nakhchivan Art School. From 1948 to the end of his life he worked as an artist in the "Azerbaijan Youth" newspaper. Graphic works, studies, still lifes, portraits, etc. is the author of works. His portrait of the "Shepherd" is kept in the Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) (1931; exhibited at a traveling exhibition of Soviet artists in Tbilissi (Georgia) in 1931). Works related to the history, nature, life and way of life of Nakhchivan occupy a central place in his work (“Old Nakhchivan”, “Alinjagala”, “Refugees”, “Khinjov neighborhood”, “Five brothers mountain”, “Bakers”, “Tinners”, “Bath” ”,“ Shoemakers ”,“ Nalband ”, etc.). In 1978, a solo exhibition was held in Nakhchivan. His works are preserved in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Nakhchivan State History Museum, the Nakhchivan State Art Gallery, the Shahbuz District Museum of History and Ethnography and many private collections.
