The Union of Artists of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as every year, celebrated the birthday of Bahruzbey Kangarli on January 22.

The event began with a joint march of NRB members and members of the Young Artists Department to the Artists' Park. Artists laid flowers in front of the statue of the famous artist. The speech of art critic Nizami Aliyev "Life of Bahruz" was heard.

In their speeches, the artists thanked the President of the Autonomous Republic for the attention and care shown to the legacy of the prominent artist and the artists living and working in the Autonomous Republic.

A memorial photo was taken at the end of the event. Bahruzbey Kangarli (Bahruz-Shamil Shiralibey oglu) was born on January 22, 1892 in Nakhchivan. He is the first Azerbaijani artist to work in the style of academic painting in the art of painting, paving the way for innovation with his realistic works.

He was immortalized on February 7, 1922 in Nakhchivan.
