On February 22, an exhibition dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy "Khojaly tragedy-31" was held in the exhibition hall named after B. Kangarli of the Union of Artists of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
An art exhibition dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was opened in the Bahruz Kangarli Exhibition Hall of the Union of Artists of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. At the opening event, the memory of the victims of the Khojaly tragedy, those who died in the 44-day Patriotic War and those who lost their lives as a result of the natural disaster in brother Turkey was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Chairman of the Union of Artists of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Honored artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ulviyya Hamzayeva spoke and said that the Khojaly genocide is the most cruel crime committed against humanity. This tragedy is reflected in fiction, movies, music and paintings, and is conveyed to future generations, as well as to the world community.
It was noted that the Historical Victory won in the glorious 44-day Patriotic War resulted in the establishment of justice for 30 years, and the revenge of the victims of the Khojaly genocide and the sons of the Fatherland who died for our land was taken.
Asip Kaya, Consul General of Turkey in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, made a speech and pointed out that from the first minutes of the terrible earthquake in Turkey, the heart of the Azerbaijani people was beating together with their Turkish compatriots. Citizens from every region of Azerbaijan, as well as from Nakhchivan, spared both financial and moral help to the Turkish brothers who suffered from the earthquake. Here, too, Azerbaijan proved that it is always with Turkey.
It was emphasized that tragedies befell the people of Azerbaijan at different times of history. The Khojaly genocide is also remembered as one of such tragedies. Today, not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Turkey, the memories of the victims of this tragedy are lived and promoted.
